Adventures Road

A piece to celebrate Elder Scrolls' Anthology collection

As I'm a big admirer of the game series, I've approached the task quite seriously, so every part of it's been thought-out carefully.

I've named the piece "Adventures Road", because the whole composition of it is obviously based off the Beatles eleventh album "Abbey Road". But it's not the only reasoning behind the title.

The now pretty famous saying of an arrow in the knee in the russian-localized version of the game Skyrim sounds this way which is "I used to follow the road of adventures too, and then I took an arrow in the knee". So yep, that is it.

Now off to some of the details, so the piece will be easier to read for everyone, not a few:

This is the center of the thing.
The Imperial City here is accompanied by the Adamantine Tower (Cyrodiil and the Balfiera isle met! wat!). They both are located at the feet of Hrothgar and the Red Mountain, encircled by the Ghostfence. To the right of the High Hrothgar is the ancient tomb of the Bleak Falls Barrow nested on a distant mountain. And what is that, lying in the almost-very center of the image? Being an annoying eyesore? That is the city of Whiterun.

Even more to the right there's the Cloud Ruler Temple - quite a significant place, isn't it? - with a closed oblivion gate before it.
And a couple close-ups of the Bleak Falls and the Whiterun

You may rightfully ask me now - "How come all these places are so close to each other? Why are you so ignorant? That is not possible! Go read some lore, go play some games!.."

Well, I shall answer, that is because all the heroes are here, walking across the same road. Even though some of them were born in the times when the others died long ago. That is because all the wonderful games are sharing the same box now! And that is so, because all these places played a more or less significant part in the story of each hero.

And that are not all the places I've included yet. Here is a few from the "spin-offs", if you can call them so, too: the Battlespire and the floating city of Umbriel

And a bit of a glimpse on a nostalgic place for all of you (of us)

The Heroes now! Let me just list all the things they're carrying.
That's already too much of a text for all the internets and beyond, as I presume.

(sorry all the heroes mixed up - the blogger's a mess with this things)

The Sheogorath Champion of the Cyrodiil is also here!

The Arena hero: Ogma Infinium (the hero's from the first game - probably knows the most), Chrysamere and the Staff of Chaos (main story item), Lord's Mail.
Overall - your typical knight in shining armour. Imperial (as he travels all the Empire in his journey, why wouldn't he most likely be an Imperial?).

The Daggerfall hero: Spellbreaker, Magnus Staff and the Mantella (main story item).
Overall - typical breton aspiring mage.

The Nerevarine: Boots of Blinding Speed (probably my favourite item from the game), Dwemer Cogs (they are so expensive...yet so heavy.), Keening and Sunder (on his belt with the cogs), Hunter's Spear and the Wraithguard which he's holding the Fork of Horripilation with.
Overall - nerevarine.

Champion of Cyrodiil: his dress and numerous Sigil Stones.
Overall - Sheogorath.

The Dragonborn: set of Dragonbone armor, Sword and Staff of Miraak, Konahrik, a couple Elder Scrolls (he's abusing those papers during the course of his story, isn't he) and a few wood logs he's carrying (Hearthfire anyone?)
Overall - typical dragon slayer. really?

And now I'm happy to tell you that the story behind the piece is over! That is all!
Here's the piece itself, sorry for the delay(preparations)

Thanks a ton for reading, if you were and enjoy!

Crackpot - Saxxy Awards 2013

The guys who I've made the "Gristly Gumbo Pot" with (which got accepted, by the way!) decided to take part in the Saxxy Awards films competition this year.

The entry tells the story told in our comic we've been "promoting" the item with.

Even though some of us would really want to extend the movie,we went for the "short" category instead
cause of the practical reasons.

The total of eighteen people have been working on the cartoon (if I may call it so) - the full list can be seen in the video's description.

I've contributed with some 2d - the backgrounds (hills seen in the distance), all the pyroland ground textures (along with the milky river) and concept art pieces for pretty much everything seen in the pyroland:
short and simple process of making the pyroland ground texture

Props for the Pyroland scenes, milky river cliff texture and backgrounds (four planes, here combined into one)

Main concept piece for the pyroland scenery, based off official concepts.

That is all to tell about this entry for now! Later on we'll release all the custom models we've done and, perhaps, some additional stuff. I'll tweet where the are available. When they are.

Be sure to rate the entry up on it's page from now, Nov 18th, untill the Nov 24th.

in case you love it so much, of course.

Thanks a lot!

2nd Team Fortress 2 item

A halloween-themed item for the Team Fortress 2 I've been working on with these guys as a concept-artist. The picture above is a compilation of almost all the stuff I did for the thing.

Check out an awesome comic for the cause here!
This very picture on steam, deviantart and a "concept art album" on the imgur.

Be sure to check out, rate and probably comment the item itself on steam workshop

Miracle of Sound, generic cover

Generic cover for the Miracle of Sound with a few "cropped" variants - for use with many future songs (thus is the title "Song Name")

And a bit on the process here
Initially, I didn't consider using the lens flare and bokeh sorta depth of field effect, but when the idea of crops came in, I figured there could be something else, something to make these look more cinematographic, more "dynamic" in a certain way.

All the crops where altered in color and brightness too - they all looks different from the corresponding fragments on the full piece.

I've also considered a few slightly different color schemes, as in almost every one of my works

Some progress shots

Thanks for visiting, hopefully you've enjoyed this little excursus (:

MoS "Reclaimer" mix cover

As you might know I did a cover for the Miracle of Sound's "Reclaimer" Halo single.
It's been quite a while since the release of Gavin's renewed version of the song, and just now we've decided to get the refined piece it's own, also refined (in a way) cover.

a crop in essence, there's no secret (:
a couple variants was considered too

The Elder Scrolls Online poster challenge

Before we start here:
dear Zenimax - would you guys mind expanding your contests' audience? Please! So there'll be more and whole lot more motivated people taking part. Thanks in advance (:

Zenimax Online (with some help from Bethesda, I suppose) arranged the awesome challenge to make a poster for their upcoming mmo - the ESO. Some may already know Ima huge, Huge fan of the elder scrolls series - it's beyond any expression how much I adore the games, the universe,  ...the Contests.
I obviously am all excited about all this, but! the contest is not valid for people living in Russia. Sadly enough, no.
But when such things were of any significance for the creators with passion? Nevah, I tell you. So I started painting right away! And here is a glimpse on the process:

Initial idea for the piece generated without a peep.
Three single heroes from each alliance battling each other
with the white gold tower under the Molag Bal's siege in the background.

A ~day later I sat down to paint furher.
On this stage I defined the poses to be a little more
expressive and have them help the composition somehow.
The idea with the Tamriel map shown itself here as well.

When working on the smaller details (just a bit of "lineart" for now)
and the lighting-color I've had some doubts concerning the center
figure - the orc - and tried a different pose.
"Too much symmetry".

In the process the canvas usually looks like this, yep.
Defining details. The painting process now, as all the lines
are pretty much done.

Adding some magic light on the argonian.
And the hands, yes

I've been capturing pics of my hands all the way through,
thanks to my younger brother Robert, who refused to
pose me for a couple shots.
So all the five (what?) hands on the piece are mine.
That's to be considered normal, though,
as the goblin and Cthulhu, for instance,  are no exception.

Argonian got some armour on and is finished in general,
so it's about time to

add some color!
And by the way - it's my first experience in a quite long time
painting Mainly with color.
Usually I add it in the last few dozen minutes.
So yes - practice!

More detailz for the other combatants and some color as well
Painting khajiit.

Khajiit's ready. Some more work on the lighting and color.
Placing the map in place.
A bit of work on the fire is happening here too.

More fireworkz! Making the map more accurate.

With many more detailz have putted in, the piece is done

Souless Ones

It's on the dA too, for those interested - there you can grab the full-size copy.
Here's a glance on that too!

Some of this stuff may be not-so-visible, but sure as all the hellz, included on purpose.
Let's begin:

Each hero has certain things, that can tell a little about their allegiance to the respective faction
all based on the official map

Ebonheart Pact
Red markings on the argonian's skin (or is it "on scales" to be polite and correct?)

Daggerfall Covenant
The rugs on the orc's waist were blue enough before all the fire started, but now it's not as much visible.
But the metal thing on it still is pretty much does remind of the empire dragon logo in it's form.

Aldmeri Dominion
Again, not as much noticeable, but nonetheless - ornament on the khajiit's shirt is yellow.

Fiery lava at the feet of our heroes is an actual map of Tamriel.
There's Imperial City in the centre of the City island surrounded by the Rumare lake, burning in eerie blue fires. Elden Root, the "capital" of sorts in the province of Valenwood. And, just for a note, Whiterun in the middle of Skyrim tundra plains. Well, right between the orc's legz, actually.

The khajiit, being (as they should be) a sneaky-trycky, nasty, lousy bastard have his primary weapon dipped in poison - that's the reason it "glows" so and leaves a cloud of acrid fume on it's track for a while.
On his belts he has an elven knife, which also tells us he might be in good relations with some altmer.
The argonian isn't that plain and simple too - having a spell ready to strike the foe's face with, and a shiny blade in his other hand, he also have at least a couple throwing knifes always prepared.

What may be interesting about the brute orc? That's quite a question. He may not be as cunning as either of his opponents, but he's sharp and watchful enough - might be running towards the cat, but his eyes are turned on the lizard.

lol, how else would you show that?

And one more detail
Signing the artwork I've noticed it's of almost identically equal composition elements placement and color theme as my ~first elder scrolls digital piece - the Berne Deception. Weird!

Thanks for reading\scrolling through the pictures. Hopefully you find this any useful! Or entertaining. Or else.
Thanks anyway.

55th post!
